Cloud Accounting Service freee Selects Zuora to Drive Further Growth of Subscription Business

Foster City, Calif. and Tokyo, Japan – March 9, 2016 Zuora®, the world’s leading provider of subscription billing, commerce and finance solutions, announced that freee K.K. located in Tokyo, Japan has chosen the Zuora Relationship Business Management (RBM)™ platform to power its cloud accounting service.

The freee accounting service enables small businesses to easily carry out a wide range of routine accounting operations, freeing employees to focus on more strategic activities. Zuora RBM will enable freee to accelerate business growth by more quickly deploying new services that are finely tuned to customer needs while also boosting the efficiency of freee’s own back-office operations.

“Many prominent international SaaS vendors already use Zuora, and I was impressed that the Zuora platform includes as a standard feature the functionality we needed to drive growth,” said freee Co., Ltd. Representative Director Daisuke Sasaki. “Our choice of RBM will enable us to focus even more on development that benefits our users, and with Zuora’s help, we will be able to accelerate the pursuit of our mission.”

Deployment of RBM will eliminate the need for freee to upgrade its existing systems whenever it brings a new service to market, thereby enabling the rapid launch of new services. As a result, freee should be able to shorten time-to-market for new services by approximately 40 percent, boosting opportunities for winning new customers. Deploying new plans tailored to customer needs will also be easier, enabling freee to build long-term relationships with customers by providing high-value services to existing customers on a continuing basis. RBM will also help to drive sales channel expansion by enabling freee to standardize and streamline its operations.

In September of 2015, Zuora opened its first office in Tokyo, reflecting the growth of the subscription model in Japan’s entertainment, cloud service and IoT markets.

“Like elsewhere, Japanese consumers increasingly prefer becoming subscribers to buying products outright,” said Zuora Japan Country Manager Junichiro Kuwano. “To meet the needs of these consumers, cloud service companies like freee must have the agility to offer the personalized services subscribers demand, and Zuora is the most complete and mature solution for delivering, managing and adapting products and services in the Subscription Economy®.”
