In just a few years, our sector has undergone major changes, forcing us to evolve to stay in the race. When we thought about it, subscriptions seemed like the most logical solution so that we could continue to invest in new technologies.”

Product Lead at Ubisoft

Ubisoft was founded in France in 1986 and is now one of the world’s largest video game publishers, with more than 45 studios and offices around the world.

The video game publisher recognized that it was critical to evolve its business model as the gaming market was becoming increasingly competitive and complex.

After starting with Zuora to power subscription management for Ubisoft+, the company later expanded its partnership to include Rocksmith+, a subscription-based music learning service that uses artificial intelligence and features an extensive music library.

Internationalization, automation and peak management with Zuora

Ubisoft uses Zuora to automate its subscription offers, streamlining its catalog, invoicing and payment collection with Zuora Billing, which includes reducing friction to help accommodate online traffic increases of up to 200% during new game releases. Initially supported on a day-to-day basis by Zuora Global Support, Ubisoft now employs an internal solutions architect who is an expert on the platform.

“We needed a partner capable of managing currency conversions and tax calculations across numerous countries. Zuora’s solutions allow us to do this in a fluid manner and in real time,” said Sánchez-Blanco.

Zuora has also supported the international expansion of Ubisoft+ to multiple countries, tailoring offerings as well as managing payments and tax calculations across numerous currencies and payment methods.

“Our technology partners must be capable of scaling up very quickly. Zuora has played an important role in this, enabling us to navigate new subscriber volume increases of up to 200%, which we can experience when we have new game releases. Zuora has the proven agility to meet our needs,” said Sánchez-Blanco.

Ubisoft+ is currently available in 184 countries and has future plans to continue expanding its subscription offerings with the support of Zuora.
