Zuora Names Former IBM, Interwoven Executive Steven Martello as Vice President of Services

Cloud business leader continues trend of hiring top talent to address rapid growth in the subscription billing

Redwood City, CA — April 29, 2010 — Zuora, the company that defined and continues to lead the subscription billing industry, today announced the appointment of Steven Martello to its executive management team as Vice President of Services. Martello brings 30 years of high tech and enterprise experience to Zuora, having successfully led global service programs at Interwoven, Scient and IBM.

Martello is the latest addition to Zuora’s executive team, which has deep industry experience and a proven track record of working to ensure customer success. In 2009, Zuora hired Elizabeth Tse, who came from eBay, where she was vice president of Global Billing, Payments & Collections, as vice president of Customer Operations; and Shawn Price, former CEO of Savvion and executive vice president at Vitria; as President and General Manager.

Before joining Zuora, Martello was senior vice president at Interwoven, where he managed a team of 170 to run worldwide consulting, training, and technical support operations. This represented 60% of the company’s revenues. As part of the senior team, he helped drive 21 consecutive quarters of year over year revenue growth and operating margin expansion. Interwoven was acquired by Autonomy Corporation, PLC, in a transaction valued at approximately $800 million in Q1 2009.

Prior to Interwoven, Martello managed the worldwide professional services delivery team at Scient, then one of the leading Internet consulting firms, and created Scient’s US engineering center. Before that, he spent 17 years at IBM holding various executive positions, including running engineering, product marketing and industry solution sales teams in New York, North Carolina, and Texas.

“Steven has the right experience to build the best services organization that will complement the leading billing and commerce platform and help our customers deliver on their mission-critical needs,” said Tien Tzuo, CEO and Chairman at Zuora. “Our customer base has grown rapidly in the last year, and we believe it will continue to grow in size and diversity of customer size, market and requirements. Steven’s contributions will be key to help Zuora join the ranks of Salesforce.com, Google and Amazon.com as a leader in the cloudsphere.”

“Subscription billing is a highly specialized process and Zuora is clearly the leader in helping cloud computing companies successfully monetize their offerings,” said Martello. “I am thrilled to join Zuora as it continues its trajectory of rapid growth, and I look forward to working with a team of such smart, capable and dedicated people.”
