TalentSpring Expands Recruiting Business with Zuora for Subscription Billing & Management

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, June 5, 2009 — Zuora, Inc., the fastest-growing on-demand subscription billing and payments service, announced that TalentSpring has deployed Z-Billing and Z-Payments, reducing time to market for company products and resulting in revenue growth.

This announcement represents an important milestone for TalentSpring, a SaaS provider of automated candidate sourcing services for the $8 Billion online recruiting industry. The company was born in 2006 from a vision CEO Brian Starbuck had while working for Microsoft. Starbuck realized how difficult it is to source good job candidates. He spent the next three years perfecting unique, patent-pending, algorithms that allow hiring managers to quickly sift through thousands of resumes sourced from job boards and public websites to find candidates best fit for an organization’s open job descriptions. TalentSpring now offers this service as a SaaS-based service in the cloud.

While TalentSpring’s cloud-based services were revolutionary for the recruiting industry, Starbuck needed the right business model. Subscription services were the answer and TalentSpring turned to the Business Cloud, relying on Zuora’s commerce platform and quickly realizing the potential benefits. In less than four weeks, TalentSpring was up and running with Zuora’s highly customizable subscription commerce engine for the cloud, enabling TalentSpring to bring it’s products to market faster.

Zuora met all of TalentSpring’s billing and subscription needs, including:

  • Integration with salesforce.com: TalentSpring can efficiently build all business processes quickly and seamlessly through Z-Force.
  • Advance quoting capabilities and Quickbooks integration: Zuora provides a quoting and billing system with both offline and on-line capabilities, and Quickbooks integration.
  • Simple to maintain and update the product catalog: With limited resources, TalentSpring wanted to focus efforts on product development around candidate sourcing, not company infrastructure.
  • End to end process: TalentSpring has been able to build, test, quote, close, collect cash and invoice through Zuora’s integration with salesforce.com.

Now, as TalentSpring relies on Zuora to make it fast and easy to launch new products, create new price plans, scale operations, and automate recurring billing and subscription payments in one solution, the company is able to focus on product innovation.

“We put almost three years of research and development into TalentSpring’s service and knew that to sell it we would need a robust, flexible billing solution. But, we didn’t want to spend precious engineering hours building it ourselves,” said Bryan Starbuck, CEO, TalentSpring. “Zuora’s Z-Billing and Z-Payments have everything we needed in a- subscription billing solution and more. As TalentSpring grows, we know Zuora will be able to accommodate new customers and rate plans without any hassle or drain on our internal resources.”

“We applaud TalentSpring’s approach to subscription billing and management — why put company muscle behind complicated, time-consuming processes that are not core to the focus of the business?” said Tien Tzuo, CEO, Zuora. “Zuora is designed to be the complete commerce engine for the cloud, and for any company’s subscription billing needs. We’re here to help companies make money and get paid for their cloud-based services.”

In April 2009, Zuora launched Z-Billing 2.0, the most powerful and customizable on-demand billing platform available anywhere. Z-Billing is the first billing application designed specifically for subscription companies, giving them the flexibility and power to create, manage, and grow their business. Within one year, Zuora completed its suite of products, including Z-Payments, a complete payment solution built for subscription businesses that includes the ability to accept PayPal payments; Z-Force, the first billing and payment system fully integrated with salesforce.com and 100% native to the Force.com platform; Z-Commerce, the Business Cloud developer platform; and Z-Commerce for Facebook.

Zuora has more than 100 customers, including CVSDude, Marketo, Box.net, and Sun Microsystems.
