San Francisco, California, USA; Zuora Japan K.K.: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo – Zuora, the leading cloud-based subscription management platform provider, today announced that NEC Corporation (Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan) has chosen Zuora’s platform as the core component of its platform for enterprise subscription business implementation.

With the shift in consumer demand from ownership to usage based consumption, companies are being compelled to transform their business models from selling products to offering subscription-based services. NEC is currently integrating its latest ICT and service business expertise into a platform that it is developing and expanding to support the prompt deployment of subscription businesses by enterprises. It will also provide comprehensive consulting services covering all stages from service design to post-launch operations.

NEC has chosen the Zuora® platform to serve as the core component of this subscription service platform. It gives Zuora high marks particularly for the impressive track record it has built by enabling over 1,000 companies in Japan and overseas to launch subscription businesses on its platform, and expertise that enables it to constantly update its technology and address the requirements of various industries.

NEC is building a subscription business platform that combines Zuora’s platform as its core component with AI and IoT components such as its NEC the WISE lineup of AI components and its Bio-Idiom lineup of face recognition, iris recognition, fingerprint/palm print recognition, voice recognition, ear acoustics authentication and other biometric authentication technologies. NEC and Zuora will pool their technologies and knowledge to support the creation of services that can generate new value from enterprise assets.

NEC Corporation commented: “We at NEC have been highly impressed by the way Zuora’s platform supports subscription business across a wide range of industries, and are delighted to be working with Zuora. We believe that by combining Zuora’s platform with our own NEC the WISE, Bio-Idiom, and other advanced ICT technologies and our knowledge of service business, we will be able to drive the rapid creation of new services by our customers. We will continue to merge the knowledge of both companies to generate new social value and contribute to the creation of an even more prosperous society.”
