Responsibilities

• Working closely with other engineers in the team to design, build and operate Zuora’s rating engine that powers next generation products, including Order/Subscriptions, Billing, Payments, Finance and Revenue products.
• Writes clean code that’s easy to understand, well tested and easy to maintain
• Improves the development experience at Zuora by enhancing development tools, test coverage, and/or code structure
• maintaining the entire life cycle of their code: implementation, testing, production release, defect resolution and improvements.

Basic Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or relevant education/experience.  
• Good verbal and written English communication.
• Strong knowledge in Java, C++ or another object oriented language  
• Good database knowledge. Knows how to use SQL well
• Experience in building web applications and understanding in related concepts like web services, SOA, RPC (REST, gRPC, Thrift) and API design.
• Good knowledge of common algorithms, data structures and design patterns.
• Have great ideas, and can run with them to produce great results. 
• 2+ years software development experience specializing in backend development in Java or C++

Preferred Qualifications 

• Familiarity with web applications and UI concepts like React, AJAX, SPA, sessions etc.
• Knows how to implement and operate performant and scalable distributed systems, particularly a SaaS product.
• knows NoSQL and understands when to use NoSQL and SQL
