THE OPPORTUNITY

The role of the Senior Software Engineer brings robust technical expertise to the IT organization to deliver technical solutions. This will include participating in the design, development, deployment and maintenance of systems that enable our core business to thrive. The role has a strong focus on integrating SaaS solutions across the landscape, and working with the Enterprise Architecture team to produce efficient low maintenance deployments. 

The systems in scope include applications being actively used by Sales, Marketing, Services, Finance, HR, Customer Success, Product and Engineering. In addition to learning about our own Zuora products, other applications in the landscape induce SalesForce, NetSuite, FinancialForce, Marketo, Workday and others.

You must also be an effective, open communicator and be willing to dig deep to refactor and improve current solutions in the landscape. The role is not about spending your day writing deep code, it's about solving technical problems and delivering well documented scalable solutions. WHAT YOU’LL ACHIEVE

  • Delivery of technical solutions across the integration layer, connecting our SaaS systems to support business needs
  • Engagement with teams across development lifecycles, with both traditional waterfall approaches and agile methodologies
  • Implement solutions that take advantage of monitoring with robust logging and error handling
  • Engagement with many business groups across the enterprise – we are a small team delivering improvements and solutions that change entire businesses
  • Assist your colleagues with design and coding best practices, including code reviews
  • Grow your knowledge and expertise with access to training, new tools and technologies
  • Contribute insight to teams working to solve business problems
  • Actively engage with project teams and assist with understanding of technical solutions
  • Assist test resources to build a world class automated test suite
  • Engage with the Enterprise Architecture team on proposed solutions to ensure efficient growth of the architecture, and provide ideas where it can be improved
  • Deliver solutions that are fully documented and ready to be fully supported
  • Assist with production issues when and if they arise
  • Provide dependable work estimates on development work and meet delivery commitments

 WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

  • 7+ years relevant work experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of IT and business/industry work experience including software design and deployment, SDLC knowledge and experience with common scripting languages
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in an engineering role with a strong background in Node, Python, React or similar
  • Experience as a full-stack developer with web and database technologies, integration platforms, front-end JavaScript libraries, and REST / SOAP APIs
  • Experience developing Apex, Java, JSP, Node, and JavaScript code
  • Demonstrated experience with source code management systems
  • Motivated to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work as a part of a team and lead collaborative discussions in a group
  • Previous work with integration layers is a plus
  • AWS knowledge is a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Enthusiasm with a positive professional attribute along with flexibility, integrity, reliability and leadership skills
