Zuora is seeking a VP and Financial Controller as a strategic member of the Finance Management team, providing critical financial advisement to the CFO and management team. The Controller will oversee and direct the non-revenue-related operational accounting function and is responsible for the efficient and effective functioning of the day-to-day financial and accounting operations of the company.

The Financial Controller will manage a group of approximately 18 individuals and will be responsible for managing the following areas:

  • General ledger
  • Consolidations
  • Close process
  • Equity administration
  • Commissions
  • Finance systems
  • Accounts payable – ensure bills are paid timely. Maintain thorough and accurate record keeping of all firm expenses, providing proper documentation to maintain detailed quarterly expense and reconciliation reports. Manage costs, identify cost saving opportunities and drive such initiatives to completion.
  • Payroll
  • Purchasing
  • SEC reporting
  • Cashflow – Manage short and long-term cash needs ensuring adequate liquidity, external financing function of the business and maintain banking relationships.
  • Financial statements and financial audit – Manage audit engagements with independent auditors, including; planning, cost, executing, directing, and completing financial statements and related tasks.
  • Tax
  • Technical Accounting
  • Internal controls – Implementing and interpreting financial policies, procedures and controls to ensure the integrity of financial statements (both systematic and user-functional to ensure data integrity and safeguarding of assets), while minimizing manual effort to ensure compliance.
  • Ensuring consistency of all financial, accounting and operational reporting of all subsidiaries
  • Compliance with appropriate accounting standards, such as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC Requirements.
  • Compliance with all other regulatory mandates (including but not limited to US and international taxes, sales/VAT/GST).

Requirements for the Ideal Candidate

  • Proactive, technically strong, and organized individual
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in progressive financial roles, with prior public accounting/audit experience and strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS
  • Preferred 2 or more years as Audit Manager or Controller (public company preferred)
  • Preferred CPA, and/or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or business administration
  • Substantial experience in SEC compliance
  • Broad experience and working knowledge of finance, accounting, treasury, tax, and internal control processes
  • Experience in M&A transactions and proven experience in merger integration would be a plus
  • Strong sense of urgency and commitment to achieving results
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work under time pressure/deadlines
