“With Zuora, we’ve built a layer of trust on top of a high-value product, allowing us to strengthen reader loyalty today.”

David Kronfeld
Chief Subscriptions Officer, Mediafin

For years, Mediafin acknowledged the need to transform its distribution model to meet the rise of digital consumption. Facing major shifts in how audiences consume media, the group introduced a subscription model to build a sustainable business less dependent on advertising revenue.

However, by 2019, Mediafin reached the limits of its internally developed IT system, which had been designed to monetize print editions.

Driven by a goal to reach 100,000 subscribers by 2027, the company restructured around this goal and partnered with Zuora, implementing Zuora Billing to support its transformation.

With Zuora Billing, Mediafin launched flexible and transparent subscription offerings, building strong trust with its readers. Today, its publications rank among the most trusted media outlets in Belgium and have some of the lowest churn rates in the country.

Known for its high editorial standards, Mediafin applied the same rigor to its commercial offerings. In 2022, it introduced a fully customizable subscription model for businesses, allowing companies to cancel at any time and pay based on actual usage.

Today, Mediafin is on track to achieve its 2027 target. With more than 94,000 paying subscriptions, the group aims to further accelerate growth by enhancing subscription features and strengthening cross-sell strategies across its portfolio.

Subscription and one-time sales have already surpassed advertising as Mediafin’s primary revenue source.
