Intern Perspectives at Zuora

Intern Perspectives at Zuora

Zuora’s interns bring unique perspectives and tremendous value to our business, and they are an integral piece of our ZEO team. From marketing and business development to technical consulting and software engineering, our internship program allows early talent professionals from varied backgrounds to make a meaningful impact on the success of our company. Interns join our teams from all over the world in the summer months to work on real projects with peers, colleagues, and industry leaders. We think of our interns as future Zuora leaders, which means that learning and development are critical components of our internship program.

Our interns are based all over the world and are in various types of roles, both technical and non-technical. Each of our interns offers a unique contribution and perspective. Here’s what they had to say about their Zuora internship experience. ?

George Hollo is a tech alliances intern here at Zuora. He is also a manufacturing engineering major at The University of British Columbia.

Why did you want to be an intern at Zuora?

I’m interested in the business side of technology and the actual technology itself. I thought this would be a good opportunity to explore something new over the summer and get to know how this side of everything operates.

I’m most excited for the ability to contribute meaningful work. The work I have been doing so far will hopefully have a positive impact on the future of the company.

What do you love most about being a ZEO?

That I’m treated as a colleague even though I’m an intern. This really allows me to work on the projects I want to and makes contributing both within and outside of meetings less daunting.

I am most excited to connect with people throughout the organization, challenge myself with various projects, and add value to the company in whatever way I can.

What do you love most about being a ZEO?

What I love most about being a ZEO is how motivating it is for me to be connecting and working with some of the best people in the industry.

I’m super excited to be a part of the customer success movement here at Zuora and also experience how Customer Success can continue to drive efficient growth for the customer and company.

What do you love most about being a ZEO?

The thing I love the most about being a ZEO is the people I got connected to since the start of my internship. All of them created such an inspirational environment and growth experience, which has fostered a culture of collaboration and empowerment across all teams.

Raj Mishra is a software engineering intern and is also earning his master’s degree in computer science at The University of Texas at Dallas.

Why did you want to be an intern at Zuora?

The Subscription Economy is the future and building products with Zuora were the most inspiring thing for me.

What are you most excited for this summer in relation to your internship?

Learning and building things that create an impact in the real world.

What do you love most about being a ZEO?

Great leadership and mentorship is the best part of being a ZEO. People here are really knowledgeable, and everyone is always ready to help in the best way they can.

Tharun Palla is a software engineering intern and is earning his master’s degree in computer science at North Carolina State University.

Why did you want to be an intern at Zuora?

I have encountered multiple instances where subscriptions are being used before joining Zuora. For instance, I enjoy seeing movies and I always pay to see them. A subscription service for unlimited movie viewing each month has been introduced by Regal under the name Regal Unlimited. The service is available for as many uses as you want for a single payment. The concept and its applications in numerous contexts were really appealing to me. Similarly, I came across other instances where ownership was transferred to usership. Later, I came across Zuora through a friend, and I was quite intrigued with both its technological stack and mission. I then submitted an application at Zuora, and now here I am.

What are you most excited for this Summer in relation to your internship?

I am excited to learn new technology stack, innovate, and have fun along the way.

What do you love most about being a ZEO?

I enjoy working at Zuora. The amazing working culture at Zuora demonstrates how much the company values its employees’ health and happiness. A person’s growth can greatly benefit from the flexibility of the job and the amazing coworkers.

Riti Seth is our go-to-market strategy intern and is studying marketing analytics and customer intelligence at Pace University.

Why did you want to be an intern at Zuora?

To gain experience in go-to-market functions, including sales operations, operational process optimization, product strategy, and customer marketing for a cloud-based subscription platform.

What are you most excited for this summer in relation to your internship?

Witnessing and executing analyses that challenge my analytical skills with respect to business analysis, go-to-market strategy, and more.

What do you love most about being a ZEO?

Shadowing [my manager] for weekly forecast calls led by [our General Manager of Sales]  – The meeting revolves around opportunities and statuses presented by all of the first and second-line managers for all potential accounts of the week. These calls can be compared to watching a movie or series including teamwork, addressing curve balls, gripping, and ending with ‘good stuff guys!’.

How has your internship at Zuora prepared you to launch your career?

Internships, in general, can provide a great transition between the education process and a career you aspire to pursue. Interning with Zuora effectively supported this transition with relevant on-the-job training. Analytical projects and interaction with teams from various organizations helped me to eliminate the areas I might be least interested in and helped me identify what particularly enticed me. Personally, it acted as validation with respect to the quality of the role where I would like to expand my skills and add value to the organization.

Thank you to our interns who have brought so much energy, passion, and hard work to their individual work and to Zuora. We’re fortunate to have you on the team and can’t wait to see your continued impact on the world!
